A marine surveyor uses a number of tools to conduct a thorough survey: Cameras, moisture meters, phenolic hammers, inspection cameras, electrical testers and sensing equipment, and many other tools as may be necessary.
I also use an infrared thermal imaging camera to detect structural defects, electrical problems and other points for further inquiry.
But the most important tools a survey can have is a good knowledge of marine systems and a keen sense of observation!
